We are so happy to announce El Baker (elbakerart.com) as our most recent artist to create a Liberty Puzzle for our customers to enjoy. Eleanor Baker is an Austin-based artist who experiments with materials and unexpected colors. Inspired by road trips across the state, she primarily creates mixed-media Texas landscapes. From the mountains of Big Bend National Park to the rolling landscapes of the hill country, the beauty in every corner of Texas influences her practice. She hopes to bring joy and add color to your life with her whimsical and vibrant artwork. Eleanor lives in South Austin with her husband, daughter, and son. When she's not painting, you'll find her exploring parks with her family, going for a jog, or reading a good book.
We had such a hard time deciding which of her paintings was THE puzzle, that we eventually decided to do two. Indecision is sometimes a sign to look for other solutions and we are thrilled with this solution. The Barton Springs and Palo Duro Canyon are two iconic spots across the state and both are so deserving of a Liberty Puzzle. We hope you enjoy them.
As many of you know, this is our fourth year of selecting an artist to create an image for a Liberty Puzzle. Our first artist was Beth Rinke's Loving Austin to Pieces, Alison Suttle was our second (and third) with her A Texas Parade and Fiesta selections and El Baker will be our fourth year's artist. We love this program for the opportunity it gives us to support and get the word out about some of the talented artists in our region and well, selfishly, we need more Texas images for our Liberty Puzzle addiction. Those of you have been lucky enough to do a Liberty Puzzle know that once you've puzzled with a Liberty Puzzle, there is NO going back.
Come into the store or visit our new website online and we will send you a puzzle. If you are giving it as a gift and would like El to sign your puzzle, let us know.
Puzzle on!
